TENT & CAMP ACCESSORIES

POLES

TENTSMITHS encourages you to build your own poles. We supply every tent with plans to build appropriate poles and measured dimensions. Access to a table saw or a friend with a table saw will save you money. Should you wish to purchase poles from TENTSMITHS, we do manufacture a complete selection of poles built specifically for your tent. Each set of poles is built after the tent has been sewn and measured. All poles are cut, planed and shaped to be square for roughly one foot at each end and octagonal for most of their length. They are ready for sanding and finishing with oil or paint.

Small tents (wedges, perimeter poles for marquees, etc.) have upright poles cut from 2" x 2" Douglas Fir stock with no knots. Ridge poles are cut from 2" x 4" Spruce stock which is hand selected, but not knot free.

Upright poles are configured leaving roughly nine inches at each end square, while chamfering the remainder of the hard edges. This makes the poles lighter and much more attractive. Ridges have the top two edges chamfered to fit the tent's ridge smoothly. |

Larger tents have uprights cut from Douglas Fir which is hand selected, but not knot free. We finish the upright poles to be 2 1/2" square, while ridge poles are 2 1/2" x 2 3/4". Upright poles are left square for one foot at each end, with the remainder cut to an octagonal shape. Ridge poles have the two top edges chamfered.

Large dimension Douglas Fir poles are priced at $7.90 per linear foot

SLEEVES INSTALLED ON LARGE DIMENSION POLES
Shortening the length of tall uprights and long ridge poles will make transporting them much easier. Cutting your poles and adding a sleeve to allow reassembly is a great answer. We will install sleeves to the larger dimension uprights or ridges for $40 each (Any pole larger than nine feet is not shippable by UPS. Unless you are picking up your pole set here at our New Hampshire location, we will cut and sleeve your poles for transporting).

SHIPPING YOUR POLES TO YOU
If you live in the northeast your poles will be shipped UPS ground service. All other locations will be shipped UPS ground or UPS 3-Day Select upon request.   Poles over 9 feet must be cut and sleeved.  Call or e-mail us for shipping estimates.
