SETTING UP YOUR

RECTANGULAR MARQUEE

ERECTING YOUR MARQUEE:

1. assemble all of your components in one very flat place on a dry day with no wind and lots of time. you should have your tent, main pole, perimeter poles, ropes, stakes and a hammer.

2. lay the top in the position you want it when finished. ( if you have a dedicated front wall/ roof, now is the time to make sure it is in the front!)

3. take one of your perimeter poles and place it through one of the front corner grommets. place two guylines over the pin. stake the two guylines about 4 feet from the pole at 90 degree angles to the pole. your tent should be lying there with one corner raised.

4. place a perimeter pole in the other front corner grommet and while keeping the front eave tight, place your guylines and stake in the same manner.

5. repeat this procedure on the back two corners making sure all the corners are square and the eaves tight.

6. you should now have an eave held tightly in the air with the center of the roof hanging down.

7. place your main vertical pole pins into the ridge pole. lifting the poles place the pins through the grommets in the center of the roof top. raise the poles into position lifting the top.

8. make sure your eaves are tight and square. move the poles or guylines or both to give you the correct shape.

9. fill in the remainder of the perimeter poles using one guyline for each grommet location. your guylines will be about 3-4 feet from the base of the poles. once staked adjust the pole tension with your dog bones (rope tensioners).

10. move your gear inside.

11. hang your walls by first locating the doorways. the end of each of your wall panels is a door. a door is one full panel of fabric overlapping the door panel on the adjacent wall. start at one door location and start hanging your wall. seams on the walls will line up with seams on the roof. hang remaining wall(s).

12. stake your walls.

One word of CAUTION: Canvas us a very natural fiber. It is therefore very dynamic in humidity. Windy, dry days will cause the marquee to relax and become baggy. You want to tighten lines at that time, however, be advised that both canvas and rope shrink when wet or damp. Loosen your perimeter lines when night dampness or rain is coming on. There are unbelievable stresses exerted in the peaks when everything shrinks and no lines are loosened. It is not impossible for peaks to “blow up” if the stresses have not been relieved. Paying attention to this one factor will ensure many days and nights of roomy, dry, and gracious living.

ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT NO MATERIAL IS FLAME PROOF. TAKE ALL THE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS AND MORE WITH FIRE. NO OPEN FLAME SHOULD BE ANYWHERE NEAR THIS TENT OF ITS CONTENTS. PLEASE BE CAREFUL. WE CARE ABOUT YOU, YOUR FAMILY AND YOUR NEIGHBORS!
